BIO

I am a mother of two and love watching the process of pregnancy and birth unfold in it's amazing uniqueness and intricacy. I still get a tear in my eye sometimes when I watch a baby take its first breath outside the womb. It's a magical moment.

It is such a joy to see the satisfaction on a mother's face when she sees how she can feed her baby from her own body and the look of love in her baby's eyes gazing up at her. I love watching the love a father has for his family during this time too.

I believe birth and breastfeeding are both natural functions of the body that God perfectly designed the body to do and are beautiful events in a woman's life that provide the opportunity to bond with her baby.

I have experience serving families in diverse situations and have attended both hospital births and home births, including working in a busy hospital as a childbirth educator, doula program manager, and leading various support groups.

I believe families should have healthy, joyful, peaceful birth experiences and that a mother knows what is best for her body. I enjoy being able to offer natural, herbal options, as well as the latest evidence based information.

I will provide you with non-judgmental support on your special journey from the start of pregnancy to caring for your newborn after you give birth, so you will never have to be alone any step of the way! If anything unexpected comes up along the way, I am prepared for that as well!  I love providing Private Birth Classes, Spinning Babies® Parent Classes, Lactation Consultations, and Photography for families, in addition to being a Birth, Postpartum & Bereavement Doula.

BIRTH DOULA

BIO

I am a wife and mother of four amazing children. I grew up in the Siouxland area and work as a Barista at Starbucks. I spend my free time sewing and binge watching various TV shows on Netflix.

I felt called to become a doula after my last birth. I had an amazing volunteer doula who supported me through my labor, and I learned just how important doulas are.

Even though I am new to the doula world, I feel personal experience is the most important part. Because I have that experience, I am able to empathize with laboring moms and help support them through labor because I've been there!

I look forward to providing personalized support in your birthing journey!

BIRTH DOULA

BIO

I am a Christian first, wife second, and mother third to 5 beautiful children. I was born and raised in Sioux City and attended Briar Cliff University, where I developed a love for art and athletics.

Our children attend Hinton School. My husband and I both work at Sunnybrook Community Church with college students, and I also run Basecamp-the Wednesday night church group for 3rd to 5th graders.

I enjoy being with my family, camping, hunting, fishing & playing TONS of basketball and volleyball. We spend our spare time pouring into the lives of college students from around Siouxland and being their parents away from home.

I’ve had three live births, all induced and with epidurals, so I have a passion now for helping women figure out what THEY want in a birth plan, finding their strength, and having the most positive birth experience possible.

I’ve attended many different kinds of births and will use my experience from Sunnybrook, my faith, my athletics, and being a mother to five crazy kids to assist in every part of the birth process. I can’t wait to pour all those experiences into your birth experience!

POSTPARTUM & INFANT CARE DOULA

BIO

I am married to my high-school sweetheart of seven years, a mother of three children, and a lover of all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum!

In my free time, I like to practice meditation, do yoga, exercise, read, go camping, travel, and watch movies.

My journey to this career as a postpartum doula was anything but short. After a negative birth experience as a young, first-time mom and some heavy postpartum depression/anxiety to follow, I sought after a different experience with my second child. I learned of birth doulas and what a difference a great support system can make. My second birth was a far cry from my first with the support of a doula and my third was the absolute best experience.

I dabbled in the birth doula world, totally inspired by my own doulas. I quickly found that there was an entirely different side of doula care that needed to be utilized to its fullest potential. Time and time again, I saw parents needing help beyond the birth and no idea who could help them. I know that for myself, I longed for my birth doulas to be with me longer...or someone who knew all of the changes a mother or birthing individual would go through postpartum.

When I realized that there was a specific doula for that, I was immediately drawn to it. I decided that I was going to be just that. As a postpartum doula, I strive to provide 100% unbiased emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families transitioning into the postpartum period. Supporting parents through this delicate time is my specialty. I am so much more than another hand in the care of your infant. I am a soft consoling voice, reassurance in decision making, confidence booster, a listening ear to get it all out to, a comforting hug, and a friend. It takes a village, and I would love to be in your village.

BIRTH DOULA, RN

BIO

I am a registered nurse and birth doula.  I have an amazing passion for all things family.  I know being a young family in today's world, no matter the circumstances, is nearly impossible without the right support system.  Being pregnant is hard.  Being a new mother is hard.  My goal is to offer my support in an effort to make this transition as wonderful, comfortable, and memorable as possible- because life is hard enough.

I believe every person born has a purpose and story that begins the moment they are born. I believe that every woman deserves a beautiful birth story regardless of the circumstances surrounding the birth.  The miracle of birth changes a person.  My goal is to help each mother I serve be prepared to embrace this change and become more empowered, resilient, confident, and feel beautiful being part of this miracle.  I believe the combination of my faith and love of the process of pregnancy and birth will make me an invaluable asset to any birth team.

I am a wife and mother to 2 beautiful children.  I live in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.  I have several years experience as a registered nurse with experience in labor and delivery, long term care, hospice, and ICF care (caring for adults with intellectual disabilities).  I have been blessed with being able to attend to some of life's happiest moments, some of life's most heartbreaking and humbling moments, and lots of moments in the middle.  My hobbies include sewing, crafting, learning and just being with family and friends.  I am always searching for ways to serve and I love providing service to those around me, especially when my family can be included.
